Dark green, fragrant foliage contribute to the desirability of this species as a Christmas tree. Somewhat open in growth habit and form, the strong branches permit the use of heavier ornaments. Soft needles and a straight stem have made this a traditional favorite for many.

Black Hills Spruce
Stiff blue-green needles. Darker green than a white spruce and more dense compact growth. Needle length of 1/2". Also good ornamental.
Blue Spruce
Known for its attractive bluish foliage, this species is gaining increased popularity as a Christmas tree.
