Dutchman’s landscape stock provides economic barriers to wind, privacy and noise. Follow these steps to keep your landscape stock healthy and growing:
1. Dig a hole for each tree about four inches larger than the ball. Fill the hole with peat moss or black dirt after putting the ball in the hole so new fiber hairs from the roots can grow easily.
2. Plant the tree with the ball at ground level or 1” above the ground.
3. Soak each tree in water every three days throughout the summer until September, or when the temperature begins cooling down. Skip watering if there is a hard rain. The trees won’t need constant watering the following summer unless the ground gets really dry.
4. Fertilize the trees in the fall with a pop-can full of 12-12-12 fertilizer around each tree. Place around drip edge on the ground outside of bottom branches.
